ORPA Leadership Academy

Program Overview
CLASSES + CAPSTONE PROJECT + MENTORSHIP
A cohort of students will attend monthly lessons from a variety of instructors to develop core competencies critical to successful leadership.
Applications open in February and close in April.
After applications are reviewed and individuals selected, the cohort will begin September of that year. The Academy concludes the following April with presentations of each Capstone Project and a graduation ceremony!
Dates are subject to change as planning continues.
Program Commitments
Classroom Learning
Students are expected to complete:

Four (4) hours each month in a live or virtual learning environment

Two to Four (2-4) hours of pre-work or homework each month, as assigned
Mentorship Program
Students are expected to spend a minimum of 2 hours each month with mentors.
Students and mentors are encouraged to collaborate as often as reasonable. Some guided conversation is provided based on that month's learning.
What students get out of mentorship is largely dictated by the relationship they wish to have.
Capstone Project
50-100 hours over the course of the Academy, depending on the project, is expected for capstone projects.
Participants are expected to present capstone projects on day of graduation.*
Capstone Projects must:

Be meaningful and contribute positively to student's agency or organization

Must be above and beyond scope of current work

Must integrate learning from the coursework
*Projects do not need to be completed by Graduation day--they can be ongoing work, or continuing projects for an agency.
