About the Leadership Academy
The ORPA Leadership Academy is a professional development program for emerging leaders in parks and recreation.
This Academy is an eight-month program, September - April, designed to provide competencies in leadership skills for park and recreation professionals. In partnership with Portland State University, the Academy combines world-class education with practical project development and the benefit of an expanded professional network across Oregon.

HISTORY
The Leadership Academy has undergone several transformations since its inception at the Oregon Recreation and Park Association (ORPA). Initially, participants attended a one-day leadership training session at the annual ORPA conference.
Based on feedback from participants and stakeholders, ORPA collaborated with Portland State University to develop the current version of the Leadership Academy. This partnership has enabled the creation of a comprehensive eight-month program that combines cutting-edge education with hands-on project development and expanded professional networking opportunities across Oregon. The result is a highly effective program that prepares parks and recreation professionals to become future leaders in the state.
